What Is In Jasmine Tea

Jasmine flowrers are used to infuse the tea with scent.

Jasmine tea is a type of green tea. Usually drunk on its own, with no sugar, just slightly higher than body temperature so that the flavor is at its best. Like all teas jasmine tea is subject to rigorous grading with Yin Hao being the finest. Add this to my Recipe Box.

Preparation

Jasmine tea is made from green tea leaves which are scented with jasmine. During this process the tea leaves are layered over jasmine flowers that are in full bloom. Left overnight, the scent permeates the tea. This will be repeated several times over a month.

Grades

The strength and grading of jasmine tea depends on the number times the tea is scented in a month. Low grades may only be scented three times where as high grades as many as seven.

Health Benefits

Jasmine tea is believed to have strong calming affects and is often taken by people suffering from anxiety and insomnia. Jasmine tea has also shown signs of being effective at slowing down the growth rate of cancerous cells.
