Louisiana is well-known for fresh seafood
Located some four hours from the Gulf of Mexico with quick access to fresh fish, crab and shrimp, Shreveport, Louisiana is home to many quality seafood restaurants. Three of the most popular are Ernest's Orleans Restaurant, Crawdaddy's Kitchen and Crescent Landing Catfish Restaurant. Add this to my Recipe Box.
Ernest's Orleans Restaurant
Bringing a New Orleans style of cuisine to Shreveport, Ernest's Orleans Restaurant claims to serve "the freshest wild Louisiana seafood found in this city." In business for more than six decades, the restaurant is now run by chef Ernest Palmisano Jr., son of the original owner. Ernest's variety of entrees includes fried fantail shrimp, fried or broiled trout and crab meat au gratin. Ernest's "Crab Meat Orleans" consists of lump crab meat atop artichoke hearts with shrimp and mushrooms. "Snapper Shreve" combines red snapper with crab meat, shrimp, mushrooms, lemon butter and wine. Ernest's also features a lounge with full bar, and a view of downtown Shreveport from some tables.

Crawdaddy's Kitchen
Crawfish (known to Northerners as "crayfish") are a popular Louisiana specialty and Crawdaddy's Kitchen boasts "the best crawfish in town. " Crawdaddy's prepares the "mudbugs" according to what it calls an "authentic south Louisiana" method using two pots. Crawdaddy's also serves fried alligator, frog legs, crab claws, oysters and fried or boiled shrimp. The restaurant's non-seafood Southern delicacies include gumbo, cajun fries and peach cobbler.

Crescent Landing Catfish Restaurant
If you're looking for catfish, try the Crescent Landing Catfish Restaurant on Pines Road. The Crescent Landing serves whole fried catfish and filet strips, and has "the best fried catfish in town," says the "Shreveport Times." Crescent Landing dips the fish in a batter of cornmeal, buttermilk and its own blend of seasonings, and quick fries it until crispy. Traditional Southern sides include hush puppies, cole slaw, fried okra, mustard greens and baked potatoes.
