There are a variety of methods you can use as ways to spice up your life.
You can easily find yourself going through the repetitive motions of a typical day. With nothing new and exciting, it can be easy to find yourself in a rut. However, even in a typical day, there are ways to spice up your life. No, you cannot ditch work to scale Mount Kilimanjaro, but a few small changes can add enough spice to get you through your day.
Do Something New
Change a small aspect of your day and replace it with something new. For example, if you have been hearing about a new coffee shop, but you have yet to pry yourself from your usual place, consider venturing there for lunch today. Sleeping on the opposite side of the bed, taking a new route to work or buying a spontaneous gift for a friend are other ways you can add a bit of spice to your life.
Smile
When you truly smile, it stimulates the immune system, lowers stress and blood pressure and increases positivity, according to behavior change expert Mark Stibich of the University of California. To add a bit of spice to stressful, yet mediocre, work day, increase the amount you smile. Everyone has a reason to smile. By thinking on those reasons, you will naturally be happier, and your life will feel the spice of a genuine smile.
Rearrange Furniture
A spiceless life is one of mediocrity and repetition. Perhaps your day is something like this: wake up, go to work, come home, work around the house, go to bed. Day in and day out, you take the same route to work, sleep in the same place, sit on the same couch. To spice things up a bit, consider rearranging the furniture in your house. Move the couch to the other side of the room or put your bed against a different wall.
Learn
When we learn, we enable ourselves to become a better person. You don't have to take up astrophysics, but simply picking up a new hobby can add spice to your life. Have you always wanted to learn crochet or speak a different language? Well, change things up by turning off the television and picking up a new hobby instead. You will be bound to feel better about yourself as you begin to learn something new.
