Squirrels can destroy gardens and spread diseases, but you can get rid of them using peanut butter.
When squirrels feed on plants, they could damage your garden or yard. Squirrels often burrow in the soil, damaging lawns, fields and golf courses. They also often create unsightly mounds of dirt in the process of burrowing. Squirrels sometimes carry diseases and other pests, like fleas. If you have a problem with a small number of squirrels, trapping them can be an effective solution. Peanut butter works well as bait to get rid of squirrels. Does this Spark an idea?
Instructions
1. Spread some peanut butter on a piece of bread.
2. Place the piece of bread with peanut butter inside a wire-mesh cage trap.
3. Use a wire to keep the door to the cage open and place it on level ground in an area that the squirrels frequent; for example, near the burrows or in their travel lane. Let the squirrels eat the bait for several days so they don't fear it.
4. Place a new bait of bread and peanut butter in the trap, remove the wire that has been keeping the door open and place the trap in its previous location.
5. Check the trap twice a day.
6. Release the trapped squirrel outdoors, away from where it could cause problems.
