Beef is the favorite type of meat for most Americans.
At the same time as genetically modified crops and other man-engineered foods are gaining prominence all over the U.S., many people are being converted to organic eating. Natural beef, which comes from animals that didn't receive antibiotics or get growth implants, constitutes a major part of the diet of people who eat organically. Because it's more expansive to produce, natural beef sells at a premium compared to regular beef, but many consumers, organic food restaurants and specialized organic food shops will be willing to pay the price.
Instructions
1. Set up a website to advertise that your farm sells natural beef. You can order a website designed for you by professionals or make a simple one yourself. (There are many instructions of do it on the Internet.) It's a good idea to make your website informative as well as a sales tool, to encourage people to visit often. In addition to noting your criteria as a natural beef producer, you might offer beef recipes or other features designed to attract repeat visitors.
2. Set the price for your beef and put it online on your website. For example, one farm in Virginia advertises its natural beef at a price of $4.29 per pound for cut weight or $2.65 per pound for hanging or pre-cut weight (January 2011 prices). To set your price, look how much other farmers charge for their natural beef in your area.
3. Promote your website by contacting local associations that support organic and natural farming. Also, advertise your product (and your website) on local radio stations and in local newspapers.
4. Sell directly to organic food restaurants and organic food shops in your area. You have the advantage of being a local producer, which may be important for environmentally aware residents of your area.
