Make Donuts

Make donuts quickly at home.

Donuts are a tasty snack, but you don't have to make the dough from scratch every time. Make donuts when you're in a hurry by using pre-packaged biscuit dough that's sold in a vacuum-sealed pack. Making the donuts is easy and fun for the kids to decorate. Remember, however, that you're using hot oil, so keep your children away from the stove and let the donuts cool before decorating. Add this to my Recipe Box.

Instructions

1. Open the biscuit container and remove the biscuits. Place them on a flat surface lightly covered with flour. Flatten the biscuits to one-half their size using a large spatula. Use a pointed object, such as a chopstick, to poke a hole in the center. Expand the hole until it closely resembles a donut, about half an inch.

2. Pour cooking oil into a deep fryer or pan to a depth of two inches. Heat the oil to 350 degrees as measured by a food thermometer.

3. Place the donuts in the oil. Cook until golden brown. Take them out of the oil and place them on paper towels to drain off the excess oil and cool.

4. Coat the donuts with your favorite toppings when they are still slightly warm to the touch.
