Brown rice is considered a healthier choice than white rice. It can be cooked in the Aroma Rice Cooker 830TC. Brown rice will require more water than white rice and will take a bit longer to cook. Never use a metal spoon to remove the cooked rice from the pan, as it will scratch the surface. Add this to my Recipe Box.
Instructions
1. Open the lid of the rice cooker and remove the inner pan.
2. Measure the rice into the inner pan. The maximum number of brown rice you can cook is 8 cups, which will yield 16 cups of cooked rice. Cup refers to the measuring cup supplied with the rice cooker and equals 180 milliliters.
3. Rinse the rice in water, and drain the water.
4. Measure water and add it to the pan. The following is the amount of water to add for the amount of uncooked rice: 2 cups of rice to 3 cups of water, 3 cups of rice to 4 1/4 cups of water, 4 cups of rice to 5 1/2 cups of water, 5 cups of rice to 6 3/4 cups of water, 6 cups of rice to 8 cups of water, 7 cups of rice to 9 1/4 cups of water, 8 cups of rice to 10 1/2 cups of water.
5. Place the insert back into the rice cooker and close the lid.
6. Press the "Cook" button. When the rice has finished cooking, the cooker will chime and switch to warming mode. Allow it to sit for about 10 minutes before lifting the lid.
