Boil Rice In A Microwave

Rice can be a great side dish or be a part of many different meals. It is very filling and comes in a variety of flavors. The best part about rice is that it is so easy to make. Rice can be made by boiling it in water on a stove top. An even simpler alternative is to make the rice in the microwave. Add this to my Recipe Box.

Instructions

1. Decide on the portion size of rice you want to use and put it in the glass bowl. Some types of rice come pre-portioned or in boxes, while others you will have to measure yourself.

2. Measure out the amount of water that goes with your portion and add that to the bowl. Unclebens.com recommends the following guides: For two servings of rice, use 1/2 cup of rice and 1 1/3 cups of water, for four servings of rice use 1 cup of rice and 2 1/4 cups of water, for six servings of rice use 1 1/2 cups of rice and 3 1/3 cups of water, for 12 servings of rice use 3 cups of rice and 6 cups of water.

3. Add butter or margarine following this guide: For two servings of rice, use 1 teaspoon of margarine or butter; for four servings, use 2 teaspoons; for six servings, use 1 tablespoon; and for 12 servings, use 2 tablespoons. This is optional depending on your tastes.

4. Cover the bowl with a lid or microwave safe plastic wrap.

5. Microwave rice on high for the amount of time suitable for your serving size: For two servings, cook for 8 minutes; for four servings, cook for 10 minutes; and six servings, cook for 15 minutes; and for 12 servings, cook for 23 minutes.

6. Let the rice sit in microwave for another 5 minutes. Remove the rice from the microwave and fluff it with a fork. Serve immediately.
