Buy Can Foods In Bulk

Canned Foods in Bulk

If you always seem to be making a trip to the grocery store, you should consider learning to buy for days--or even weeks--in advance. Doing so can save you countless dollars in gas, especially if you live a distance from your grocery store. It will also save you money and allow you to stock pile foods that don't go bad quickly. Most canned foods will last one to two years. Some will last even longer. You will even be surprised how much money you will save buying a package of 12 cans of corn verses 12 separate cans of corn. Add this to my Recipe Box.

Instructions

1. Go to your local grocery store and sign up for their super savers card. Just about every grocery store has one. They are totally free. This will save you money on your groceries. Now go to the bulk isle and see what bulk items are on sale. Stock up on them. Present your card at check out an get all of the savings.

2. Go to a wholesale store and sign up for their club memberships. These memberships often cost a few dollars, but you can get two cards for the price. Go halves with a friend and you won't have to pay as much. The memberships are good for 1 year. Now visit the store and stock up on all of the items you need. You will find that most items are cheaper than your regular grocery store so your paid membership will be worth it. Items are sold in bulk, and they have every canned good imaginable. Present your card at checkout and save. Three famous wholesale stores are B.J.'s, Costco and Sam's.

3. Use an online service. Acme and Shoprite both have online services. You can order all of your canned food items and stock up. You do this online. You then have the option to visit the store at your designated time to pick up your bulk canned goods or have them delivered right to your door. Expect to pay $10 for the online service and another $6 to have it delivered. Well worth the price if you are stocking up and won't need to visit the store often.

4. Join a Co-op. These grocery co-ops do charge a fee just like the wholesale clubs. Each co-op is different so you should get in touch with your local co-op to see what they have to offer. Sometimes the co-ops run their group from Yahoo Groups so you may want to check there first.

5. Buy bulk from Food Service Direct. Restaurants use this site to buy in bulk, but there is no rule that says everyday citizens can't buy from there. They have just about every food you can think of, and the price you see is usually for a case of the canned food. Each product has a different amount of cans that equals a case so you will have to click on the product you want to get the details. The link for this company is provided for you in the Resources section.

6. Use Rock Run Bulk Foods and Services, Inc. They sell Amish foods and canned goods in bulk. You can't order online or even see a list of their prices, but you can call their phone number to talk about what you need and how much of it you want to purchase. The number is 1-800-587-1859. They specialize in bulk foods so they should have what you are looking for. There will be shipping charges added to your order.
