Make Natural Hair Products

Pamper your hair, naturally.

Hair in its natural state has a tendency to be dry. Care for and nourish your hair with gentle, natural products that contain ingredients you've selected rather than fillers or harsh chemicals. Keep your hair moisturized and looking good, even it's braided or in a dreadlock style. Make your own moisturizer, leave-in conditioner and deep-conditioning treatment. You can make enough at one time to last for several applications. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

1. Make your own hair moisturizer with shea butter. Crush the shea butter in a bowl and add an ounce of jojoba oil. Heat the mixture gently to melt the ingredients together, but don't boil it. Remove from the heat, pour into a bowl and stir until it thickens. Pour into a 4-ounce jar after it cools.

2. Create a leave-in conditioner to spray on your hair. Mix equal parts of grapeseed oil and joboba oil together in a bowl. Grapeseed oil makes a good conditioner and adds shine. This mixture works well with two-strand twist, dreadlocks and braids. Store in a spray bottle.

3. Make a nourishing conditioner to keep braided hair healthy. Combine 1 ounce grapeseed oil, a little shea butter, an egg yolk and 2 ounces jojoba oil. Apply generously to your hair and comb through.

4. Deep condition your hair once a month. Peel a ripe avocado and cut it into chunks. Mash the avocado in a bowl, add 1 ounce of grapeseed oil and blend together until it becomes a paste. Apply the mixture to your hair. Cover your hair with a shower cap and leave it in for 20 minutes. Shampoo and rinse your hair. Store any remaining product in a 4-ounce jar.
