Package Bake Sale Items

Bake sales are a great way to raise money for organizations and causes.

Bake sales are a fun way to raise money for an organization or cause. They give many people an opportunity to help others with what they have in a non-monetary sense. People feel good giving of their time, talents and organizational skills to help others. Organize a team of volunteers for your next bake sale and make it a success. Assign people to handle specific tasks like publicity, donations, sale setup, selling goods, collecting donations and cleanup. Being clear beforehand about exactly package and label items at your bake sale will help ensure its success. Add this to my Recipe Box.

Instructions

1. Clearly state how you want bake sale items packaged in the pre-publicity materials about your bake sale so that as people are solicited for baked goods, they will package them appropriately, and in a uniform way.

2. Ask people to place loose baked goods such as cookies, brownies and candies like peppermint or almond bark, peanut brittle, toffee and dipped fruit like strawberries and cherries into disposable, clear plastic air tight containers so that shoppers can see goods and the goods can stay fresh. Instruct sellers to choose containers that are deep enough for buyers to see items clearly and large enough so that items are not crowded.

3. Layer cookies, dipped candies, fruits or pretzel rods between sheets of wax paper cut to fit the dimensions of the container. Package delicate treats such as truffles or puff pastries in single layers in their own separate containers.

4. Instruct volunteers to label each plastic baking tin with a pre-made baking label or their own label which clearly details what's inside of the tin. If desired, you may create the baking tags yourself and tell bakers to pick tags up from you to place on their items. Cut baking tags out of card stock paper so that they measure about two by three inches. Choose a color that appeals to you or a design that fits the theme of your bake sale, if you have a theme. Write the name of the baked good on the front side and list ingredients on the back. Make sure writing is legible. Tags can also be printed on a computer and taped to the baked items.
