One of Connecticut's oldest towns, and incorporated in 1670, Simsbury is located in Hartford County, about 15 minutes west of Hartford City. During the summer of 1944, Martin Luther King Jr. worked in the tobacco fields and lived in a farm on Firetown Road. Mark Twain was also known to walk 20 miles from his Hartford home to Talcott Mountain, just 20 minutes outside Simsbury.
