Remove Blood Stains From Clothes

Copyright gbod.org

Accidents can happen, from a bloody nose to a knife cut while chopping food. Often these accidents will lead to blood stains on your clothes. While it might seem that these stains would be very tough to remove and the clothing is ruined, it's not. Try a simple home remedy to get rid of the blood stains from your clothes. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

1. Blot the blood stain with a paper towel if it is still wet. Don't rub it or else it will spread. If the blood has dried, soak the clothing item in cold water for 10 or more minutes.

2. Squeeze excess water from soaked items. For both dry and wet clothes, pour hydrogen peroxide directly on the stain. Most clothes have no reaction to the hydrogen peroxide, but if you are nervous about a delicate item, test it in an inconspicuous spot first. You will see a bubbling wherever there is blood. This is the hydrogen peroxide reacting to the blood and breaking it apart. Let it sit for a minute.

3. Scrub the blood-stained area with an old toothbrush or your fingers. Rinse with cold water.

4. Repeat the steps if necessary. Dried blood stains will take longer and won't come as clean as fresh blood stains.

5. Rinse the clothing completely to make sure the hydrogen peroxide is completely out. Wash with your regular laundry. Before drying, make sure the stain is completely gone.
