Mix Your Own Vinegar & Oil For Sandwiches

Add a touch of zest to your dressing by adding lemon or orange rind.

Submarine sandwiches are fresh ensembles of selected meat, cheese and vegetables topped with a delicious topping. According to Swarthmore College, sandwich-making began in Italian-American communities in the late 19th century. Large, long sandwiches shaped like submarines may also be known as hoagies, heroes or po boys. A popular topping for these sandwiches is a simple, low-carb sauce made from vinegar and oil. Combining these two ingredients with a few fresh herbs will give you a tasty, fresh last-minute dressing for your favorite sandwiches. Add this to my Recipe Box.

Instructions

1. Pour 1/8 tsp. of salt, 1/2 tsp. of Dijon mustard, 1/2 tsp. of honey into a dressing jar. Put the lid on the jar shaking the ingredients together for 30 seconds.

2. Remove the lid from the dressing jar. Add 1 tbsp. of red wine vinegar and replace the lid. Shake the ingredients together for 30 seconds.

3. Take the lid off again. Add 2 tbsp. of vegetable oil and 1 tbsp. of extra olive oil to the jar. Put the lid back on again and shake the ingredients together again for 30 seconds.

4. Refrigerate the dressing until you are ready to use it. Give it a quick shake before pouring it on to your sub.
