Oven Roast Turkey Drumsticks

Cook up some tasty oven-roasted turkey drumsticks.

Turkey is not just for Thanksgiving anymore, now that people are becoming familiar with the benefits of including it in a healthy diet. A good source of protein and amino acid tryptophan, turkey drumsticks are a canvas on which the creative cook can experiment to make new taste treats. Add this to my Recipe Box.

Instructions

Simple Roasted Drumsticks

1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees.

2. Remove the skin from the drumsticks.

3. Add salt and pepper to taste. About 1/8 to 1/4 tsp. per drumstick will be sufficient for most people.

4. Add sage and garlic powder or other herbs and spices, as desired.

5. Spray the roasting rack and pan with cooking spray. Place the rack in the pan.

6. Add the drumsticks to the rack. You can also add vegetables such as potatoes, carrots, celery or onions, if desired. If you add the vegetables, pour about 1/2 cup of water or broth in the bottom of the pan to prevent burning.

7. Cover the pan and place it in the oven for 45 minutes. Remove the cover and return the pan to the oven for 10 minutes or until the drumsticks are golden brown.

Glazed Drumsticks

8. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees.

9. Remove the skin from the drumsticks.

10. Spray the roasting rack and pan with cooking spray. Place the rack in the pan.

11. Add the drumsticks to the rack and cover the pan. Place it in the oven for 30 minutes.

12. Mix the cranberry sauce with orange juice to bring it to the consistency of heavy cream.

13. Remove the pan from the oven and uncover it. Brush the drumsticks with the glaze mixture. Return the pan, uncovered, to the oven for 10 minutes.

14. Remove the pan from the oven and turn the drumsticks over. Brush them with more glaze. Return the pan to the oven for a final 10 minutes.
