If you've never thought about using a veggie wash, then think about this: Pesticides are not water soluble. They're manufactured that way so that they won't require reapplication by the growers following rainfall. Aside from that, think about how many different people have handled that artichoke or zucchini before it finds its way into your kitchen.
Simply rinsing fruits and vegetables is often not sufficient. They need to be thoroughly cleansed. But commercially manufactured veggie washes usually contain their own hazards in the form of harsh chemicals. They also tend to impart a nasty chemical aftertaste to the foods they're used on. But take heart, because you can quickly and easily make your own veggie wash with essential oils and other natural products that clean produce safely and effectively. And you'll save tons of money, because it's much more inexpensive to make this recipe than to buy washes from a store. Does this Spark an idea?
Instructions
1. Combine the baking soda with the water in a medium-size mixing bowl, and stir to dissolve the soda thoroughly.
