Remove Blood Stains From Bed Sheets

Remove blood stains from bed sheets.

Finding bloodstains on your bed sheets may lead you to conclude that the sheets are ruined and beyond help. Because blood is a protein-based stain, it will usually lift effectively when you use the proper presoak and washing process to remove the stain. Use care as you treat a bloodstain; however, because if you wash the bed sheets at an improper temperature, you may make the stain impossible to remove. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

1. Place the stained sheets into the washing machine and fill the washing machine with enough cold water to cover the sheets. Add the enzyme presoak liquid to the washing machine (consulting the package label for recommended amount) and start the washing machine to agitate the sheets. Allow the washing machine to agitate the sheets for approximately five minutes and then stop the cycle.

2. Allow the sheets to sit and soak in the water for approximately 15 minutes. Spin and drain the washing machine after the time elapses.

3. Add the appropriate amount of laundry detergent to the washing machine. If the sheets are white, add an appropriate amount of chlorine bleach to the bleach dispenser. If the sheets are colored, add an appropriate amount of color-safe bleach to the bleach dispenser. Wash the sheets in warm water on a regular wash cycle.

4. Remove the sheets from the washing machine when the cycle ends. Assess the stains. If the bloodstains are gone, dry the sheets in the dryer on warm heat. If the bloodstains persist, repeat the presoaking and washing process a second time. If the stains do not lift after repeating the steps twice, they are probably too set in to remove.
