How Do Facial Exercises Help Get Rid of a Double Chin?
Face Exercises
The "shovel" exercise involves opening your mouth really wide and then pulling your lower lip over your bottom teeth. Begin working your jaw up and down in a scooping type motion. If you do this for 30 to 50 repetitions daily, it should begin to show improvement to your chin area within a few weeks. Another facial exercise involves tilting your head back, pulling down your neck skin to about your collarbone, and holding it there while you work your facial muscles. Then start pushing your lower jaw forward while closing your lips together. Hold for several seconds and then release. Repeat this at least 30 to 50 times a day.
Face and Body Exercises
There are several exercises you can do while lying down that will help work your chin and neck area and alleviate excess fat in that area. Start by lying on your back with your legs and arms straight out. Tilt your head forward so that your chin touches your chest, and hold this posture for several seconds. Then release your head so that it falls back to the floor. Repeat this 30 to 50 times daily. Another exercise to try while you are already lying down requires you to tilt your chin upwards so that it becomes the highest point of your face. Hold this posture for several seconds before releasing and letting your chin fall back down toward its normal position. Repeat this exercise 30 to 50 times daily.
Face and Hand Exercises
Pulling the skin around your neck and chin to help it stretch can also help with making a double chin disappear. An easy exercise is putting your open hand underneath your chin and then using that to tilt your face upwards so that the muscles and skin of the area are stretched out. Repeating this 30 to 50 times on a daily basis should show improvement within a few weeks. Another exercise that utilizes the strength and help of your hands involves pushing your palm against your forehead for several seconds and pushing against it with your head. This should tighten the muscles in your neck and chin. You can move your hand around to the sides and back of your head to work out all of the muscles in your neck area.
