You can make delicious smelling lemon soap in just minutes at home. This soap makes a wonderful gift for family and friends for birthdays or winter holidays and it will only take a few minutes to make several bars. There is no danger of lye contact because you will use melt-and-pour soap base and the rest of the ingredients are perfectly safe for even children to use---with supervision, of course.
Instructions
1. Cut the melt-and-pour soap base into small chunks that are about ½ inch by ½ inch. You can use any kind of soap base you would like including, goat milk, glycerin or shea butter.
2. Place the soap chunks into a microwave safe container. Heat on 50 percent power for two minutes. Remove the soap from the microwave and stir well. Continue heating at 20 second intervals until the soap has completely melted.
3. Add the lemon fragrance oil to the soap, stir well and then add the yellow soap dye and stir again until the dye thoroughly incorporated. Add more soap dye for a darker yellow soap.
4. Stir the dried lemon peel into the soap mixture and then pour the lemon soap into the mold.
5. Place the mold in the freezer for 25 minutes. Remove the mold from the freezer and allow it to sit for several minutes to warm up. Turn the mold upside down and gently press on the bottom of each section to release the lemon soap from the mold.
