Rice cereal makes a suitable first food.
When a baby reaches the age of 4 to 6 months, he is likely ready to begin eating solid foods in addition to breast milk or formula. One of the first foods a baby may eat is Gerber Rice Cereal. This simple single-grain cereal contains vitamins and minerals that a growing baby requires. Mix up Gerber Rice Cereal for your baby to prepare a satisfying first meal.
Instructions
1. Place the Gerber Rice Cereal into a bowl.
2. Measure 1/4 cup of breast milk or formula into the cereal and stir the ingredients with a spoon.
3. Continue stirring for about 10 seconds to make the cereal smooth. Add more breast milk or formula if the cereal seems too thick. Stir the cereal again after adding the additional liquid.
4. Warm the rice cereal in the microwave, if you wish. Place the bowl into the microwave and set the power to 50 percent. Microwave the cereal for 15 to 30 seconds and then stir the cereal.
5. Test the temperature of the cereal before feeding it to the baby.
